What SOC 2 actually checks
SOC 2 isn't a certification you apply for, it's an independent examination. An external auditor spends months testing whether the security controls a company says it has are actually designed correctly and were operating consistently, not just documented on paper. A Type II report is the most complex version: instead of checking controls on a single day, the auditor tests them across the whole period, looking at real evidence such as access logs, incident response records, vendor reviews and backup tests, and reports exactly what they found.
Anyone can write a security policy. Very few can prove an independent auditor watched it work for three straight months.
Why we did this
Our clients run mission-critical workloads on AWS through us: production infrastructure, DevOps pipelines, data platforms that their own businesses depend on. When a company hands us that responsibility, "trust us" isn't a good enough answer. SOC 2 forces us to prove it, with a third party checking our homework.
It also forced us to make our own operation more structured. Going through the audit meant formalizing things that had lived in people's heads: who owns which decisions, how we classify and respond to incidents, how we track vendor risk, how we handle contingency planning. The audit didn't just confirm we had good practices, it also made several of them rigorous and documented for the first time. The report confirms our commitment and focus on security processes and compliance.
Built on teams, not individuals. We don't want our reliability to depend on any one person. It depends on teams, documented procedures, and processes that outlast any individual, so the continuity our clients rely on doesn't disappear when someone is out sick or moves on.
What the report covers
The report examines the security controls supporting Cloutive’s Infrastructure and DevOps as a Service, specifically against the Security Trust Services Criteria. Overall it gives independent evidence of how we manage security risks, protect client environments, and maintain operational controls throughout the examination period.
What this means for you
If you're evaluating Cloutive for AWS infrastructure, DevOps, or architecture work, this gives you something to check rather than take on faith. We can share the full report under NDA, please reach out to your Cloutive contact to request it. Working with Cloutive also lets you show your own clients that your infrastructure is managed according to AWS Partner standards.
We're also one of a very small number of AWS Partners with a completed SOC 2 Type II examination, worth factoring in if you're comparing partners on this basis.
What's next. This is just the start. The current report covers three months, which is standard for a first-time SOC 2 Type II. Our next observation period begins 1 September 2026, and we intend to extend it, so the coverage becomes continuous and longer-running year over year.
